In the 2012-2013 school year, Indian Valley Elementary School purchased and served students fresh, local butternut squash, sweet dumpling squash, potatoes, and spinach. In addition, fresh local apples and strawberries were purchased and served at all five of Floyd County public schools.
For the 2013-2014 school year, all five schools, including the high school will be purchasing potatoes from Old Mill Stone Farm, apples from Wade’s Orchards, and strawberries from a local grower. Biweekly deliveries of fall produce began on September 3, 2013.
